GASOLINE EXPLOSION
Many of the compounds derived from petroleum are not only flammable but may be explosive as well. This is especially true when they are used in an unventilated area. Gasoline, solvents, lacquers, glues, and spot removers all are highly flammable.
The man in these pictures was burned to death inside a small utility room when gasoline fumes ignited. While there was a history of a previous suicide attempt, it was concluded that he was sniffing gasoline when the fire occurred. There were severe burns over much of his body with loss of skin on his feet and legs. It was the burns on the soles of his feet that led investigators to conclude that he was sitting on the floor sniffing gasoline when it accidentally ignited.
